Customer Rating: Summary: Better for the younger crowd... Comment: I'd have to agree with the other reviews suggesting that this is for a younger audience. The acting is pretty campy, and difficult to watch for adults. Also, we wish they'd spend more time showing the vehicles, and not focus so much on the corny dialogue. These videos are quite dated and that shows in the production value. If your children are toddlers, they'll probably be entertained, but if they are older or in grade school, I'm not sure this will keep their interest for long.
Customer Rating: Summary: Embrace the Cheese Comment: My 3-year-old son LOVES Hard Hat Harry. Yes, the videos are dated and obviously low-budget. Yes, the acting is amateurish. Yes, the editing is laughable. But I didn't buy these videos (we have all of them) for MY entertainment. They are surprisingly informative. This one in particular, as well as the Race Cars/Monster Trucks and the Rescue Adventures/Police Cars are my kid's favorites.
My son, a stereotypical boy, loves to learn about cars and trucks. In this video, Harry teams up with a pair of kids and shows them what it's like to be a trucker or fire fighter. My kid quotes lines from the cheesy dialogue, and has decided he wants to be a fireman (and a policeman!) when he grows up.
These DVDs have become a staple in our house, and to be honest Hard Hat Harry is a LOT less annoying than, say, a certain ubiquitous furry red muppet who hasn't yet mastered the first-person pronoun.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's for kids Comment: My 2-year-old has not been interested in television until Hard Hat Harry, and now it has become a regular part of his day. My toddler loves all the videos, and my older kids like all the information. It's a little hard for an adult to watch -- the acting is cheesy -- but it is fine and friendly and fun for young kids.
Customer Rating: Summary: My kid loved it! Comment: I bought this for my[..]who is obsessed with anything that has wheels. He has watched it over and over again, and has memorized the catchy intro songs for both sections (Trucks and Firetrucks.) His 4 yr old friend also really liked it. The acting is not sophisticated, but the footage of the actual trucks and emergency procedures kept the kids' attention. We also have the Hard Hat Harry Rescue Adventures/Police Cars, but my son has only shown moderate interest in that video.
Customer Rating: Summary: I would give it zero stars if possible Comment: I bought this dvd for my 2 year old son. After one tortured viewing we threw it in the trash. To begin with, Hard Hat Harry himself is difficult to watch--- he prances about the screen for an hour. Aside from his frolicking (to be polite about it), one hardly gets to see any trucks or other equipment in which a child would be interested. When you combine this with Harry's "odd" affect and genrally irritating demeanor, you end up with a video that it unbearably difficult to watch.
