San Luis Obispo Creek

The creek that runs through the city is a great place to go feed the ducks. One of my favorite spots is right behind the parking lot at the corner of Higuera and Nipomo Streets. The reason this is one of my favorite spots is because you can start out with a visit to Toms Toys on Higuera (just a few stores down from the parking lot), then you can get a coffee and cookies and milks from the coffee shop next to the parking lot. Then walk across the bridge, the kids love it and it is safe, and feed the ducks and have your snack.

Bubblegum Alley

Ok I personally think this is just disgusting but the preteens love it. People starting putting gum on the walls of this alley around 1960 and now it is quite a spectacle. Leaning Pine Arboretum on the Cal Poly Campus

This is such a wonderful place to visit and a great place for the kids to walk the paths and explore! Visit the Leaning Pine Arboretum website to learn more, to get directions, and obtain visitor information.

Lunch at the Airport

Have lunch at The Spirit of San Luis Restaurant at the airport and watch the airplanes take off and land. This isn't an inexpensive outing but it sure is fun and the food is very good. The kids will love it! Directions to the San Luis Obispo airport

  If you live in San Luis Obispo, it's hard to shop at the Saturday morning farmers' market without running into at least one person you know. This is the biggest little market in SLO, a community market with a social feel. Over the past few years the market has grown to over 60 vendors and is the busiest of the SLO County Farmers' Market Association's five markets. Once a quarter you can find local chef's cooking up a storm during demonstration cooking displays. Occasionally you￭ll find local artists out painting the scene, or authors on site for a book signing. But you can always count on finding the freshest local produce brought to you by California farmers.
