Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach is a great little beach community. If you are a local you live in paradise and if you are taking a Pismo Beach vacation you are in for a treat.

For more information on Pismo Beach visit the City of Pismo Beach website or the Pismo Beach Chamber of Commerce online Pismo Beach Visitor Guide

Here are some great Pismo Beach activities that you won't find elsewhere on CentralCoastkids.com

Kayaking!

Whether you bring your own or you rent a great place to launch the kayaks is along the stretch of coast around the end of Cuyama Street Click here for a map. There are stairs leading down to the ocean in a few places here and the surf doesn't break hard so it is easier to get out.

Cruise the Boardwalk

To the left of the Pismo Beach Pier is a boardwalk along the beach that is a beautiful stroll for those in strollers or wheelchairs.

Fish off the Pier

Take your gear and join the other fisherman on the Pismo Beach Pier. (fyi: the railing is not safe for little kids)

Beach Volleyball

There are beach volleyball nets at Pismo Beach north of the pier.

Pismo Beach Campground

There is an RV park in Pismo Beach as well as camping at Pismo State Beach. Pismo Coast Village RV Resort offers satellite TV, a heated pool, arcade, and miniature golf. Pismo State Beach (which is officially in Oceano but just barely and it is really for all extents and purposes Pismo Beach) offers family campsites, and a ton of other ammenities. You can also get Wi-fi access close to the restaurant if you are like me and WAY too dependent on your gadgets. Click here for more information on the Pismo Beach campground.

Pismo Beach Clams

Clamming is permitted in Pismo Beach year round but you have to have a license and there are restrictions. For more information on Pismo Beach clamming, click here. The Pismo Beach Clam Festival is a big event that takes place in October. There is a parade, a festival, arts and craft vendors, clam dig, and of course a clam chowder cook-off!
